Charged is an app for two people in a relationship to see how each other is actually doing. It handles information about your emotional state, which is about as personal as app data gets. This policy says plainly what is collected, where it goes, and what your partner can and cannot see.
We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and there are no third-party analytics or advertising trackers in the app.

When you mark a preference as discreet, the wording is stripped before anything is sent to our servers. It is stored on your device and nowhere else. Your partner is told that something exists and how long it has been, never what it says.
The trade-off is real and you should know it: because the wording is never uploaded, it does not transfer to a new phone, and it cannot be recovered if you lose the device.
You choose this, and you can change it at any time on the Sharing screen. It is enforced by the database, not merely hidden in the app, so no version of the app can route around your setting.
Your check-in notes are never shared with your partner in any mode. Nor is your history: a partner sees how you are now, not a month of your check-ins.
If you use the conversational catch-in, the text you write is sent to Anthropic's API to be read into suggested adjustments, which you confirm or reject before anything moves. The request is made from our server, never from your phone, and it is used to answer that one request. Your partner never sees what you wrote.
The free version has no AI features at all — it is a rating scale, and nothing you type is sent anywhere but our own database.
Charged looks for language suggesting a crisis, and when it finds any it shows helpline information instead of continuing. This check runs on your device, before any network request. A crisis detection is never written to any shared column and is never visible to your partner — safety disclosures are frequently about a partner, and an app that reported them to that person would be dangerous.
Charged is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Account → Delete account, inside the app. This removes your profile, check-ins, gestures, preferences and pairing from our servers, and clears the copy on your device. It is immediate and cannot be undone. You do not need to email anyone or wait for us.
Charged uses Supabase for its database and authentication, and Anthropic's API for the optional AI catch-up. Row-level security means each account can only read its own rows and whatever a paired partner has explicitly agreed to share.
No advertising, no data sales, no third-party analytics SDKs. Charged makes money from subscriptions, which is the whole reason it does not have to make money from you.
If this policy changes materially, the app will say so before the change takes effect.
